Understanding your Sealy mattress warranty

If you’re looking to invest in a new mattress, it’s important to check if it comes with a mattress
warranty and to understand the terms of the warranty. Generally, a mattress warranty should
last longer than the expected lifespan of the product.

At Sealy, we take pride in manufacturing the highest quality mattresses here in South Africa,
and we do our best to make sure your Sealy is up to our highest standard.

Sealy mattresses are made right here in South Africa in our state-of-the-art facilities. Each
mattress is made to order using locally sourced materials. Once the mattresses are made, they
undergo rigorous testing to ensure the mattress complies with our stringent quality standards.
This process includes testing raw materials and components, as well as the finished products.
We are dedicated to ensuring that all Sealy mattresses adhere to our benchmarks for
durability, comfort, and support.

What is a mattress warranty?

A Sealy mattress warranty protects you in the unlikely event that your mattress has physical or
functional flaws. Sealy Warranties generally cover a period of 10 to 15 years, depending on the
type of mattress you purchase. The Sealy Warranty is separated into two distinct time frames:
• Guranteed repair or replacement period: Usually between one to three years. This is
when we will repair or replace the mattress, provided the warranty has not been
voided. (See below for more information.)
• Service warranty period: Between nine to 12 years. This warranty period is pro-rated,
meaning consumers are responsible for paying a certain percentage of the cost of
repairing or replacing the mattress.

When you purchase your Sealy mattress, take time to carefully read and understand your
warranty terms. Pay close attention to the length of the warranty, what’s covered under the
warranty, factors that might void the warranty, and how to submit a claim.

Factors that void a warranty

All warranties differ, However, there are some physical flaws that do not qualify as a defect.
The Sealy warranty does not cover:
• Handles and mattress/foundation stitching pulling loose after four months of purchase
• Mattress or foundation damage due to abuse evident by bent border wire from
jumping or walking on, or bending the product
• Comfort or firmness preference
• Mattress damage due to an inappropriate foundation being used
• Mattresses that are excessively dirty, stained, burnt, infested with insects, or in an
unsanitary condition
• Damage caused by continual use of an electric blanket, as the high-temperature will
cause the fillings and fibres in the upholstery layers to flatten
• Mattresses without the Seal label. If product identification labels have been removed,
the warranty becomes invalid
• Mattress damage due to inappropriate storage conditions

Please note, this list is not exhaustive, and it is best to study your Sealy warranty to ensure you
don’t unknowingly void the warranty.

Care tips for your new Sealy mattress
Your Sealy mattress is an important investment. To ensure your mattress functions as
intended, it’s important to follow a few of our mattress care tips:

 Follow the rotation cycle outlined in your warranty document. This will minimise
impressions, ensuring your wear evenly for many years of trouble-free use. Sealy
mattresses are no-flip mattresses.
 To clean your mattress: vacuum your mattress with a hose attachment and on the
lowest suction level
 Use a waterproof mattress protector to keep your mattress free of bed bugs, dirt, and
allergens
 Move our mattress by carrying it flat or on the side. Don’t use the handles to lift the
mattress. The handles are there to help position the mattress on the base
 Use the correct foundation for your mattress, so it has the support it needs
 Don’t remove any customer care labels
 Don’t stand, walk or jump on the mattress
 Remove all the packaging and give your new mattress time to air
